WECAIR, the international airline pilot training school, is expanding to Africa. In collaboration with its Mauritian partner Flymates, WECAIR is launching the FlyFirst World program, specifically designed for aspiring African pilots eager to pursue a career in aviation.
« It was an obvious choice for us to turn to the African continent. There are so many young, talented, enthusiastic, and motivated individuals here who dream of a career in aviation. Africa is a rapidly growing market in the aviation sector, and thousands of pilots will be needed to meet the increasing demand from airlines. » – Krista Vandermeulen, CEO of WECAIR.
Wecair has already trained cadets for Air Côte d’Ivoire — an enriching experience and a true honor to contribute, in its own way, to helping young people achieve their goal of becoming airline pilots.
Through its tri-continental program (Florida – Bordeaux – South Africa – Prague/Berlin), WECAIR offers EASA-certified training that exposes students to a wide variety of climates, terrains, and operational conditions. This international structure ensures that graduates meet the highest professional standards and are fully prepared for employment with leading airlines worldwide.
« We also want to remain close to our students. That’s why we established our first partnership with Flymates, which is well established in East Africa and is a specialist in aviation training (cabin crew and airport professions). By combining our strengths and expertise, we can provide high-quality support: Flymates will be able to answer questions about the program and guide aspiring pilots throughout their journey towards a new career in the skies. » — Krista Vandermeulen, CEO of WECAIR.
« At Flymates, we are proud to stand alongside WECAIR to make world-class pilot training more accessible to young Africans. Our role is to be the first point of contact, to guide candidates through the admission process, answer their questions, and prepare them for the demanding standards of an international career. For many aspiring pilots, this is a life-changing opportunity, and we want them to feel supported from the very first step. By joining forces with WECAIR, we are helping future pilots move with confidence from all over Africa to training grounds across three continents, and ultimately into the cockpit of the world’s airlines. » – Patricia Mallet, Co-founder and Director of Flymates.
Admissions tests for the FlyFirst World program will begin in September and October 2025, with the first students set to start training in January 2026.
An adventure full of meaning – one that will, quite literally, give wings to ambitions !
